Arvind Krishna appointed as co-chair of the NY Emerging Technology Advisory Board

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has made a significant move in positioning the state as a leader in emerging technologies by appointing IBM’s Indian American CEO Arvind Krishna and Girls Who Code CEO Dr. Tarika Barrett as co-chairs of the new Emerging Technology Advisory Board.

The Board, comprised of industry leaders, will play a crucial role in informing and accelerating New York’s transformation into a hub for growth and innovation, with a focus on artificial intelligence. Announcing the new board at McKinsey’s Future of New York Summit, Governor Hochul expressed her excitement about the potential impact of the advisory board. Arvind Krishna, who has a distinguished career at IBM spanning over 30 years, expressed his honor in co-chairing the advisory board. Governor Hochul’s Empire AI proposal, unveiled as part of her FY 2025 Budget, further solidifies the state’s commitment to AI research. The proposal includes the creation of a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence computing center in Buffalo, supported by seven founding institutions and industry leaders. This initiative aims to promote responsible research and development, create jobs, and unlock AI opportunities focused on the public good.
