The Glass Processing Automation Days (GPAD) event recently brought together 126 fabricator and supplier attendees to explore the latest advancements in glass fabrication technologies and the potential of automation and integration in the industry.

The event kicked off with a presentation by Dave Miller & Craig Morris of Cyncly, who delved into the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the glass fabrication industry. Miller highlighted the three types of learning in AI – supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, emphasizing the importance of data-informed development, ethical application, and practical solutions for successful AI implementation. Morris shared real-life case studies showcasing how AI reinforcement learning can optimize production schedules.

VP of marketing and business development for DFI, Syndi Sim, shared insights on achieving product launch success. She stressed the importance of setting clear goals when launching a new product, such as capturing new customers, increasing revenue streams, and differentiating your business. Sim emphasized the significance of thorough pre-launch preparation, including market research, target audience identification, and effective communication across teams.

Sim also highlighted the critical role of sales teams in the success of a product launch, emphasizing the need for education on key value propositions, product differentiators, and customer questions. She advised companies to gather feedback from sales teams post-launch and implement necessary changes to improve product performance.

On day two of the conference, Joe Hague and Scott Knisley of Forel discussed the importance of high-performance glass and triple insulated glass units (IGUs) in creating energy-efficient homes. They highlighted the significant energy consumption of commercial and residential buildings and the role windows and doors play in improving energy efficiency.

Attendees at GPAD had the opportunity to network, learn from industry experts, and explore cutting-edge technologies and strategies for enhancing glass fabrication processes. The event provided valuable insights and knowledge for attendees looking to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving glass industry.
