Faculty Development Workshop: Exploring the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

Share

Exciting news for all faculty members interested in the intersection of technology and healthcare! The Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) unit of Education Resources is hosting a virtual faculty development event on April 17 at 12:30 p.m. (Central) focused on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare.”

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize the healthcare sector by efficiently processing large amounts of patient data, analyzing patient records and radiologic images, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. However, with great promise comes great responsibility, as the risks and limitations of AI in healthcare must be carefully considered.

Dr. Richard Van Eck, an expert in medical education, will lead the presentation and share insights from his recent studies on AI in healthcare. Attendees will gain a basic overview of AI technology, including supervised machine learning, natural language processing, image processing, and deep learning/neural networks. Real-world case studies and clinical trials will be discussed, showcasing how AI strategies have already been used in areas such as chemotherapy, patient diagnosis and treatment, breast cancer, and mortality prediction.

This faculty development event is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about the potential of AI in healthcare. Previous sessions can be streamed on the TLAS website, and attendees are encouraged to reach out to Adrienne Salentiny with any questions or suggestions for future meeting topics.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the exciting possibilities of AI in healthcare and learn how it can shape the future of patient care. Mark your calendars for April 17 and join us for this informative and engaging event!
