Warrior Run students delve into the fundamentals and ethics of AI usage

Warrior Run Junior High School in Turbotville is taking a proactive approach to preparing students for the future by incorporating artificial intelligence education into their curriculum. Recognizing the importance of AI in both academic and workforce settings, the school is offering special elective classes to teach students how to use AI responsibly.

Theresa Bartholomew, the director of curriculum and instruction at Warrior Run, emphasized the importance of using AI programs specifically designed for education. Working closely with the CSIU’s professional development unit, the school is ensuring that students have access to the tools they need to succeed in a technology-driven world.

The teachers at Warrior Run believe that AI is a tool that can benefit students when used correctly. By teaching students about AI ethics and responsible usage, they are empowering them to make informed decisions about how they interact with technology.

In classes like computers in research and foundations for success, students are learning how to use AI tools like Ideogram to enhance their learning experience. From creating images based on books they have read to identifying real versus AI-generated images, students are gaining valuable skills that will serve them well in the future.

Kyle Brady, the junior and senior high librarian at Warrior Run, is impressed by how quickly students are adapting to AI tools. By challenging them to think critically about the technology and its implications, he is preparing them to navigate a world where AI is increasingly prevalent.
